(SNO) – Fond St. Jacques Primary School has emerged the top performing school among public schools in this year’s Common Entrance examinations, becoming the first school from District 8 to achieve that feat.
But there is more reasons to celebrate than this.
The school’s principal, Virgil Mangroo, explains: “We have more to celebrate because although the mean dropped, our mean went up and it went up considerably by 13 points. We also have even more to celebrate because whether it’s a trend on island where males are not performing, the six students who topped our schools, four of them are males so for us the trend doesn’t show… our boys are performing and our girls are performing.”
Cyann Alfred was their top achiever with an average of 92 percent. She is heading to Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School.
While thanking everyone for helping her on her journey, Cyann said the overall success was a team effort because everyone had to “pull their weight”.
