(SNO) – Micoud was full of colour on Sunday, July 29, 2018 when the village held its carnival celebrations, with revelers creating quite a spectacle, as they behaved “bad”, gyrating in the blistering heat as if there is no tomorrow.
Even some senior citizens were part of the action, creating quite a stir by the manner in which they rotated their waists and allowing some of the young men to “grind” on their buttocks.
Among the revelers were skimpy attired women of all shapes, sizes and ages, exhibiting acrobatic moves as they gyrated to the pulsating music, exhibiting various parts of their bodies, leaving nothing to the imagination.
Five bands took part in the event.
Chairperson of the Micoud Carnival Committee, Anja Dornelly, told this reporter that she was very pleased with the public’s participation in all the events they have held so far.
“The events have been a huge success… This year the public’s participation was better than last year. We have more hand made costumes and less t-shirts,” Dornelly said.
Some of the activities held prior to Sunday’s event were a carnival pageant, junior carnival and J’ouvert.
“We had lots of people in the J’ouvert and they all enjoyed themselves,” Dornelly added.
Keisha Anthony, a member of one of the bands, said: “I am having a great time… We are here to have fun. The music have us wild.”
She added that this is not the first time she has taken part in the event and will continue to do so.
The event culminates later today, Tuesday, July 31, with the continuation of the Parade of the Bands. And from all indications, the revelers are expected to behave more bad than how they behaved on Sunday.
So far, the activities have been incident-free.
