UPDATED: Melville placed on curfew, ordered to stay away from Gros Islet Street Party

Denver Melville.

PRESS RELEASE (updated) - On Sunday, May 30, 2015 the police formally charged 29-year-old Denver Melville of Reduit, Gros-Islet for the offence of possession of firearm.

Melville made a court appearance before the First District Court on Monday, June 1, 2015 where he was granted bail.

The bail conditions are as follows: bail set at EC$5000.00, suitable surety or land document.

He is ordered to report to the Gros Islet Police Station daily at the hours of 9:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Melville is also assigned to a curfew between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. daily and should not be within 100 yards of the Friday Night Gros Islet Street Party.

Melville was charged in connection with a shooting incident which occurred on Friday, May 29, 2015, about 2:05 a.m. on Dauphin Street, Gros-Islet.

EARLIER SNO REPORT: Man charged with gun possession in Gros-Islet shooting granted bail

A man who was shot by police in Gros Islet on Friday (May 29) and subsequently charged with possession of a firearm was granted bail in the sum of $5,000.

Denver Melville, 29, of Reduit, Gros-Islet made his first appearance at the Magistrate’s Court in Castries today, where the charged was read to him.

Melville was subsequently placed on bail.

He was represented by Attorney-at-Law Alberton Richelieu.

He is expected to make another court appearance soon.

Sources told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that the 29-year-old man could face additional charges.

Meville sustained a gunshot wound to his left calf following a shooting incident near a bar in the northern town which left four other people nursing gunshot wounds.

He is one of two suspects in that shooting.

The other man is currently hospitalised.
