(SNO) – On Sunday (Aug. 12) Team Saint Lucia overcame a stern test against the home team, coming away with a 3-0 win to top Group B of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) 2018 Boys’ Under-14 Challenge Series in the Dominican Republic.

Saint Lucia, who were unbeaten coming into this closing fixture, had only conceded one goal from three matches at the Estadio Pan Americano de San Cristobal. Meanwhile, they had scored a whopping 13 times.

At halftime of the finale, whereas the Dominican Republic had yet to score, the same was true of Saint Lucia.

But early in the second half of the 70-minute encounter, in fact, just a minute after the break, Canaries and Square Boys striker Steven Octave netted to put Saint Lucia ahead, his first goal since scoring four in the opening match.

Kegan Caul (Castries/VSADC) had scored in all three matches, and he potted again in the 58th minute to double the lead. Jahlil Evans (Gros Islet/Northern United) had also scored in every game, but this time he missed out.

With Octave and Caul tied at five apiece for the team scoring lead, it was Octave who put the ball in the back of the net again, four minutes into time added on in the second half, to cap a tremendous tour for Saint Lucia.

With 16 goals scored and just one conceded in four games, this was one of the best outings in a while by a Saint Lucia team at any level.
