(SNO) – So far the young West Indies have been enjoying their tour of England. But unfortunately, for the most part, that has not translated itself on the pitch to date, with two out of their three matches rained out.
On Sunday, however, the youngsters were able to get a full game in (and a win by two wickets, at that) against Hertfordshire.
Batting at #6, Saint Lucia’s Ackeem Auguste added an important 26 as the West Indies successfully chased 240 for the win.
The top three had taken the score past 100, with Bolden scoring 48 and Dindyal 51, but the visitors faltered, losing wickets cheaply in the middle of the innings.
Ackeem, a Windward Islands under-17 player, and captain of the Saint Lucia U15’s, had a crucial role in the recovery.
The young wicketkeeper-batsman from St. Mary’s College and Gros Islet was eventually adjudged out LBW.
West Indies lost eight wickets in the chase. Hertfordshire made 239 all out, but it’s unclear as to what part Ackeem played in that innings.
