(PRESS RELEASE VIA SNO) – The Liking Aquatic Swim Club and book author Ms. Dawn French have once again demonstrated their support for the Government and people of Saint Lucia by donating school supplies and story books to the Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, Empowerment, Youth Development, Sports, Culture and Local Government.

The ceremony was held on Wednesday August 29th, 2018.

Public Relations Officer Ms. Karette Charles expressed her enthusiasm in assisting the poor and vulnerable in Saint Lucia.

“Last year we hand about 20 pairs of shoes, but now we have more than 40 pairs. These range from P.E shoes, football, sandals and sneakers. We have added school supplies and pants. 2019 will be bigger because we will incorporate uniforms as well. We are happy for your support in helping us to teach our swimmers the importance of giving back to those who are less fortunate.”

Deputy Director in the Department of Ministry Equity, Social Justice and Empowerment, Ms, Tanzia Toussaint extended special thanks to the donors for the much needed books and supplies.

“The Liking Aquatic Swim Club has once more come to our assistance. We are hoping that with these supplies we can assist at least 50 of our vulnerable young persons in Saint Lucia. The Welfare Officers are the one who will determine who is most in need of the support. We also want to recognize Ms. Dawn French not Deputy Permanent Secretary (DPS) but as an Author who donated books as well. On behalf of the Ministry and the Social Protection Department I would like to say thanks to the Like Aquatic Swim Club and commend you for your efforts. We are looking forward to a continued partnership in the future. I think next year will be even bigger.”

The supplies ranged from school pants shoes, notebooks, storybooks, school-socks and stationery.

The ceremony was held at the ministry’s conference room.
