The woman, whose identity has not been released, was travelling along with a woman identified as her Sister in Law in a Suzuki Swift when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Eyewitness at the scene stated that the vehicle was not speeding at the time of the accident.
The bystanders were only able to rescue one of the ladies involved in the accident, the other drowned before help could reach her.
Individuals commenting on the incident says they believe crash barriers are needed to prevent a similar recurrence in the future.
