(SNO) – Saint Lucian Gabriel Gabe Mercier is the recipient of the Leadership Award at Assiniboine Community College (ACC).
Mercier, who is the director of ACC Parkland Campus, Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada, explains what the award is about.
“The award recognizes an employee who demonstrates outstanding leadership and who inspires others within the college to excel in their role. They motivate and inspire the people around them, actively share responsibility, authority, information and credit when working towards the achievement of a goal; they give team members all the tools necessary to complete their tasks. They communicate in a manner which is fair, straightforward honourable and open and they set a high level of integrity by leading through example and maintaining high professional standards while accomplishing normal job duties,” he said.
The college has been developing its Parkland Campus in Dauphin into a regional partnership centre. It has also made the practical nursing programme permanent at the Parkland Campus, with intakes every other September, beginning last fall.
“We want to expand Parkland Campus and offer even greater diversity in our program offerings for learners, while ensuring we are meeting the labour needs of the region,” said Mercier. “Our growth is part of fulfilling the college-wide goal of doubling our number of graduates by 2025.”
