(SNO) – Saint Lucia international defender, Melvin ‘Baby Boy’ Doxilly scored his first Trinidad and Tobago Professional League goal on Tuesday night, as Morvant Caledonia United stretched their unbeaten streak to five games, despite playing the second half down a man.
In the first game of a double-header at Hasely Crawford Stadium, 10-men Caledonia United earned a 2-0 win over cellar-dwellers, Terminix St. Ann’s Rangers.
Caledonia United defender Maurice Ford was sent off on a direct red card six minutes from the half, but second-half goals from Sedale Mc Lean (49) and the 20-year-old Doxilly (86) earned the Jerry Moe-coached ‘Eastern Stallions’ their fourth league win this season after 13 outings.
Said Doxilly: “I was really happy to score my first goal for Caledonia. I did not start the game, but I was asked to warm up when [Ford] got a red card. When I came in at the start of the second half, I found the game to be really intense, because we were a man short, but we never gave up. We had a plan and we stuck to it.”
Morvant Caledonia (18 points) remain seventh, with Civic (8 points), North East Stars (6 points) and Rangers (6 points) below, while Sando (21 points) moved up a spot into fifth, one point ahead of Defence Force FC, who have a game in hand against North East Stars.
Caledonia played Tuesday night without regular starting goalkeeper Vino Barclette, who is on duty with the Saint Lucia Under-20 team in Florida.
