(SNO) – Despite being repeat champions of the WINLOTT Windward Islands Under-19 Cricket Tournament, Saint Lucia have once again been awarded just three places on the 13-member Windward Islands age group team that is set to take part in the West Indies domestic competition.

The three are returnees Johnnel Eugene and Kimani Melius, along with Simeon Gerson.

Melius scored 126 runs in the Windwards youth series. Gerson’s left-arm orthodox spin took a tournament-high 17 wickets. Eugene made 45 runs from five innings and took eight wickets.

Oddly, no space was to be found for Jard Goodman, who led Saint Lucia with 137 runs. His team-high 73 was the third highest individual score of the competition, and he passed 25 twice whilst batting opposite Melius at the top of the innings.

Grenada, joint 2018 champions with Saint Lucia, have four players on the Windwards team, including the returning Johann Jeremiah and Shermill Lewis. In 2017, Eugene was captain and Jeremiah his deputy. This year, the Grenadian will lead the Windwards team.

Daneal Dupigny and Jahseon Alexander return from 2017, leaded four Dominican lads in the under-19 outfit. The seventh returning player is Rayan Williams, one of two players from St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Making their debuts alongside Gerson will be Jehiel Walters (VIN), Jeron Noel (GRN), Lincoln Durand (DMA), Micah Joseph (DMA) and Teddy Bishop (GRN).
